Redgum Firewood

from $24.00

Redgum is the go-to for a heater that needs to run all night. It is a dense hardwood that burns slowly and puts out steady, long-lasting heat once the fire is established.

Split and ready to stack. Delivered free in the Bright area, or collect from the yard on Morses Creek Road.

  • Overnight burning in a slow-combustion wood heater
  • Long, cold High Country nights
  • Keeping a steady heat without constant reloading

How much do I need?

It depends on your heater, how much of the house it heats, and how often you run it. A heater used most evenings through winter will usually need more than one bulk load, so many people start with a couple of cubic metres and top up later.

Burning tips

  1. Start with kindling and a few pieces of lighter hardwood, then add redgum once there's a good bed of coals.
  2. Redgum is dense, so it takes a little longer to catch. That's normal. Once it's going it burns slowly and evenly.
  3. Turn the air control down gradually rather than all at once. A fire that's choked too early smokes and wastes wood.
  4. Store it off the ground, covered on top and open at the sides so air can move through the stack.

Redgum Firewood: common questions

Is redgum worth the extra cost over mixed hardwood?

If you want a fire that holds overnight, usually yes: redgum is dense and burns slowly. For quick evening fires, mixed hardwood is better value. Many people order both, using hardwood to get the fire going and redgum to keep it there.

Can you stack it for me?

Yes, for bulk and loose orders. Stacking is $25 per 15 minutes, about 15 minutes per cubic metre, so a 2 m³ order is $50. Tick "Stack it for me" at checkout.

Can I collect it myself?

Yes. Choose collection at checkout and pick it up from the yard at 191 Morses Creek Road, Bright. Text ahead so it's ready.
